Kingsland Locke, Dalston reaches Practical Completion!

Kingsland Locke represents an exciting addition to SACO’s Locke family. In the heart of Dalston, the strikingly modern aparthotel will fit perfectly in an upcoming area that is becoming ever more appealing.

The development will feature 121 studio and one-bedroom apartments over five floors and will include a gym, restaurant, cocktail bar, vast co-working space for 152 guests. Impressively, it will also host a fully functional brewery operated by Kraft in the basement.

The structure consists of a single-level basement with a 5 storey superstructure over, with set-backs and transfers at levels 3 & 4. Utilising the sloping site and existing retaining wall of the neighbouring property on one elevation, Manhire Associates were able to limit the extent of the contig piled wall to one side of the site and implemented unpropped RC retaining walls to the rest of the basement level. In the superstructure, the use of blade columns and thin flat slab construction maximised internal area and careful coordination reduced the need for large transfer structural elements.

Kingsland Locke sits on a former Tesco Express site, on the corner of a busy bustling high street. With excellent transport links into the city and surrounding areas including Shoreditch, Dalston is becoming increasingly more desirable for travellers.
