Brickwork underway on Ridgeback's 30 storey Skinner Street development in Leeds....

With the cores advancing 14 storeys and the floor slabs at level 9, Keady are already laying the first storey of brickwork wrapping around the striking BTR gateway development in Leeds. Once complete, the development designed by Leach Rhodes Walker Architects will provide 399 apartments with generous amenity space and also public realm.

Working closely with Leach Rhodes Walker and Futureserv, MEP Consultants, Manhire Associates developed Stage 4 proposals which resulted in quite significant savings in materal with emissions (A1-A5) just 165 kgCO2e/m2.  The relationship between the external wall and the building frame was a key consideration in the design and proposals were developed with 200mm convenionally reinforced flat slabs to support the curved brick and curtain wall.  The superstructure and substructure was carefully detailed resulting in an ‘as detailed’ reinforcement rate of 115 kg/m3 for the 30 storey development.

The building is due for completion in August 2025.
