Moore Place Extra Care
Moore Place in Esher, Surrey is a modern, high-quality residential care home set in luxurious and stunning surroundings. Meticulously finished to a very high standard, Moore Place offers first class care and facilities, with spacious en-suite rooms in a light, contemporary and elegant setting.
Commissioned by Moore Place Holdings in 2009, Manhire Associates worked closely with Urban Matrix to develop designs for the development, which involved developing a drainage strategy to minimize discharge into the wider drainage network by ‘infiltration’ into the underlying sub-soils with ‘soak-aways’ carefully located in the landscaped gardens. The site is sloping and is directly adjacent to Moore Place Golf Club. Proposals were developed to utilize the natural topography of the site to provide on-site parking discretely located behind some existing trees and to minimize the necessary ground works by balancing the excavation and surplus material. Retaining walls were located and designed to accentuate the landscaping design. The building is of traditional load bearing masonry construction founded on strip footings.
As part of the development, Manhire Associates designed ‘off-site’ highway improvements and a new entrance to the site, working closely with the Local Authority.
The Care Home was opened in December 2015 by Anchor, offering superb person centred care for 60 residents with facilities such as a café, cinema and craft room, a hair and beauty salon, and a mini library.
