Novotel, Brentford
Completed in 2015 by Etoile Developments, the hotel is located on the busy A4/M4 corridor into central London and is part of the Great West Quarter development designed by Assael Architects.
Working with Leach Rhodes Walker Architects, Manhire Associates completed designs for the 9 storey 206 bedroom hotel which included a restaurant and conferences facilities, as well as a gym, swimming pool and car parking in the double level basement.
The design team overcame a number of complex problems and were able to integrate the various bespoke requirements of a hotel into the wider development. Frame proposals were developed early on in the design process and coordinated with Barratt’s design team to ensure compatibility with the basement sub-structure and to also give Barratt the opportunity to refine and improve their ‘base-build’ design. Landscaping and the design and detailing of the curtilage or apron around the building posed challenges as well as routing services and drainage.
The Great West Quarter development by Barratt has transformed the five-hectare site on Great West Road into a vibrant new development of 900 homes set amongst a landscaped plaza and green open spaces, with shops, offices, cafes, restaurants and now a new hotel.
